This is an amazing depression-era sampler quilt. The minute I saw it I knew I had to share it with you. The blocks are made using a variety of techniques in a wide variety of sizes. There are 35 blocks in the quilt with filler strips making it all fit together. The quilt came from an estate in Plattsmouth, NE. Founded in 1854, it is one of Nebraska’s oldest cities. At the time I acquired the quilt, I didn’t know exactly when it was made or by who. During my examination of the blocks and quilting, I discovered three sets of initials and the date 1932 quilted in one of the filler strips. How cool is that?!!! The current population of Plattsmouth is under 7000 people so maybe we’ll be able to discover who made this amazing quilt.
